Keelung is surrounded by mountains and rivers, from the mountain forest trail to the seaside plank road, and you can experience all kinds of customs in one day. Keelung Railway Station is just a unique railway station with the railway and the seaport side by side. We extracted the changing scenery from mountain to water layer by layer, far and near, which is the beginning of reading Keelung.

Take out three slices and sort out the texture of the current base:

(1) The "post station node" is the axis where the various transportation systems converge. After the old railway station is decommissioned, we intervene in translucent eaves between the south station, the north station, and the transfer station, and integrate it. The underground passage of the South Railway Station, the future entrance and exit of the transfer station, and the square in front of the old railway station. In addition, during the investigation, it was found that a high percentage of elders did not know the location of the new station, and they always walked into the old station first to ask. For them, the old station has memories of the times when Keelung people went out and entered the city. The Glimmer Plaza also responds to the directivity of the entrance of the old railway station, which contains the importance of connecting the square with the generations.

(2) "Historical Walk" connects the old station platform, carved iron shed, Haozhi Building, and West Ersan Warehouse. The linear walking area uses the warehouse as the final station to show a series of spatial narratives. The only private space on the site-the residential houses on Gangxi Street has a trail outside to provide a relaxing interface for the arcade and walking area, creating a dynamic and static pedestrian space. The entire row of building facades on the side of the Harbour Building remain exposed.

(3) Different from Ocean Plaza, "Harbourside Recreation" is different from Ocean Plaza. In order to create the possibility of holding events, we propose a harbor stage where the sea breeze blows in and also brings out large-scale performances. Going north along the shore trail, the Cape Plank Road is a medium-sized square on the side of the Customs Building and the West Second Warehouse. It is combined with the square in front of the North Railway Station and is an important location for the intersection of the three slices.

In the discussion of Keelung’s urban space, this place, mixed with old and new stations, historical buildings, and squares, will be repositioned to provide rest and experience for travelers from afar, as the starting station of northern Taiwan, and also merged with Keelung. Each scenic spot becomes a railway harbor cultural park.
