The design concept of the base revolves around the way of thinking about the integration of all elements in the history of the base. The most distinctive feature of the base is that the base was once a wasteland, a paddy field, and a new metropolis formed after the implementation of the Xinyi Project, starting from the underground MRT system , The road system on the ground, the pedestrian system of the street profile, the air bridge system of the Xinyi commercial district that connects department stores and other buildings, and the height of the building all show the vertical development of the urban system in Taipei.
The Xinyi business district air bridge system connects the important facilities of the Xinyi business district, improves the interweaving of people and vehicles in the business district, and becomes the main route for people to walk in the Xinyi business district. However, the height of the three-storey building makes people and the ground-level streets and open green spaces Gradually alienate.
The design concept started from "Geological layers in Taipei City". If the floors in Taipei are thick, it is like the concept of multi-layered geology in Taipei. By magnifying the texture and concept of geology, we re-depict different geological layers into landscapes. The vocabulary of the design, and to observe the high ground level of the Xinyi Project Area, from the pedestrian bridge to the underground MRT Bannan Line, this elevation change accommodates the unique urban space belonging to the Xinyi Project Area, and the civic activities in this thickened area In the urban space.
This design concept attempts to establish a new system between the Xinyi business district's air bridge and the ground floor, thereby reconnecting the relationship between the citizens and the street space on the ground. This system connects people's behaviors, street furniture, green spaces formed by the retreat of buildings, street systems, and landscapes. The Xinyi business district has very diverse activity groups. Office workers usually work and socialize, citizens ride ubike for commuting, night shopping and sightseeing, and parent-child travel on holidays. In addition to meeting the needs of different ethnic groups, street furniture also inspires more Interactive communication among multiple citizens. In addition, by combining the landscape and landscape with the original green space around the city hall, the problem of the accessibility of the original city hall landscape and the low willingness to use is improved, and an open space shared by all ethnic groups is created. At the same time, it connects the ground landscape with the underground Bannan MRT system, creating a new look for the city in the vertical dimension.
